My parents were recently visiting from their home in Florida, and asked us where we could go get some brunch. Given the fact that Rachel and I are trying to avoid brunchy, carb-laden stuff, I suggested we go to Arthur Avenue, do a little window shopping and try Umberto’s Clam House, a seafood restaurant that is open for lunch on Saturdays. Umberto’s is also based out of Manhattan’s Little Italy, but as a result of the “Chinatownification” of the Little Italy that most people are familiar with, they decided to open an outpost in the Bronx, where the “real” Little Italy is now.

My dad, also trying to cut down on the bad stuff, went with a Zuppa De Pesce in a white wine sauce.
Rachel went with the Marinara/Red version of the same dish.
I went with the Mixed Seafood Platter over Linguine, sans Linguine. This includes Clams, Mussels, Shrimp, Scallops, and Scungilli (Sliced Conch Meat). This was awesome, the seafood was totally fresh and I didn’t miss the pasta one bit.
Umbertos was also nice enough to bring me some steamed vegetables on the side.
Mom surprisingly went for the Fried Clams. They do look reallly good, though.
There’s only one way to pronounce this restaurant: Umbertooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo’s CLAM HOUSE!
