Tam Tam Unobtainium

I’m not sure how I missed this one, but OTB fan, Flickr Jewish Cuisine diva and net-bubbie Melissa Goodman notified us of this March 27th New York Times article about the scarcity of Manischewitz Tam Tams this year due to manufacturing delays at the Newark, New Jersey Manischewitz Matzah plant.

Passover without Tam Tams? What are we supposed to eat instead, Shmurah-etes? There’s just no substitute.

Thank you for this vital update. I am a huge fan of Tam Tams and didn’t understand why they’d been so hard to find lately.

BTW, most Tam Tam varieties are NOT Kosher for Passover. I am not at all strict about keeping K-P, but I have never thought of Tam Tams as a Pesadik treat for this reason. The NYT article didn’t get this right, either.

yes I agree about the kosher l’Pesach thing, Rachel, but what better to down a glob of chopped liver swimming in schmaltz covered caramelized onions and the requisite kosher l’Pesach achingly sweet Coke?? Oh, I know, I’ll substitute real matzohs for those elusive Tam Tams … anticipation!

Ran across a website today http://www.savetheknish.org that is hysterical! You have got to check it out and join the movement to stop the horrific slaughter of these precious little furry creatures to create tasty pastries!

Everyone needs a smile – Hey! I even ordered a T-Shirt! Be the first on your block to have one!
