Ourtaste.com

The food ratings site arms race again increases with Ourtaste.com, which I’d classify as sort of a hybrid between Blogsoop and Foodcandy, but leaning more towards the strict functionality of Friendster and less blogger oriented than the other two. Built by Open Source programmers Peter Stella and Harlan Crystal, it was designed as a way for them and their trusted circle of friends to share New York City restaurant ratings. They’ve now opened up their circle to everybody — it allows you to make “friends” with other people who rate bars and restaurants, where they can then view your Favorites/Likes/Dislikes.

Like a lot of these new Web 2.0 dynamic content driven meta-information food sites, it’s in its infancy, and the technology is still rough around the edges. But its definitely worth looking at, and has a lot of promise.
