Pumpkins: Beyond Pies and Jack ‘O Lanterns

Some people love pumpkin and wait all year long for fall’s beloved pumpkin pie. Others hate it and wouldn’t touch a pumpkin pie if it were handed to them on a silver platter. Perhaps those people who say they don’t like pumpkin never have had a pie, cake or even a stew or soup made with freshly cooked pumpkin. At this time of year, most supermarkets have heaps of beautiful, orange pumpkins ready to take home and turn into jack-o’-lanterns to decorate your doorstep. They also probably have those cute, little pumpkins, usually dubbed “pie pumpkins.”… Best of all, some of these pumpkins are culinary delights waiting to be discovered…
