Muffalettas have always been good to me, but nothing beats a South Louisian Po-Boy. this waws always my favorite. I have always been Louisiana born and Louisiana Proud(from Northshore), but the po-boys and gumbo are what takes my heart. Now, do not get me wrong, a good muffaletta is just as south Louisiana as you can get, but it is Variety that makes Louisiana Food the spice of life.
Great post and blog.

If you want a hot one, go to DiMartino's on the Westbank. The bread is nice and crispy.

Excellent blog and great post!
There is a photo of the mini muffalettas that I made and served to my guests at my Mardi Gras party. I couldn't get my hands on the round, Italian seeded bread, so I made my own but forgot the seeds! Oops! http://gumbeauxkitchen.blogspot.com/2008/02/mardi-gras-shindig.html

Dang, Jason, that's some serious muffaletta porn. Makes me really, really crave one. I have to admit, though, that as good as the Central Grocery's version is, I prefer the one at the Napoleon House
http://www.nolacuisine.com/2007/07/05/napoleon-house/ Have you tried theirs?

My dad used to go to New Orleans on business when I was growing up. He used to bring home 2 things from these trips -- Muffeletta's from the Central Grocery and Oyster Po Boys from the Acme Oyster Bar. The Po Boys were sent home deconstructed, but all packed in paper plates. We would gather around the table what ever time he got home to eat the Po Boy. Nothing like a Po Boy at 11pm on a school night. The Muffeletta would wait until the next day. Those are some of my favorite memories from that time frame. Seriously delicious stuff.

Is it considered "a sin" to ask for your Mufaletta hot (heated up)?
