Thanks for posting about Hubigs and Elizabeth's. Sadly Elizabeth's has been sold twice in the past year. But the praline bacon is still available.

FYI - a common mistake made by many not specifically from the neighborhood - Hubigs and the Mardi Gras Zone are not in the Bywater but in the Marigny. The Bywater begins at the railroad tracks.

what lovely pictures and write up.

The Bywater is one of my favorite areas and where most of my firends live. If you want to see the nightlife scene in the bywater, I would suggest Vaughan's to see Kermit Ruffins play on Thursdays or Marky's Bar. You'll really enjoy both.

Your photos and text on Hubig's Pies are most remarkable! This really needs to be covered by some major news outlet! I am so impressed at your New Orleans coverage on this trip .. I may well take your advice and go there for a vacation myself ... thanks, Rachel and Jason for this "eye opener"!

Those props were from the Krewe to Vieux parade. It's always the first parade and the most obscene.

Where in the world do they charge for tea refills?
